Diya Aur Baati Hum [DABH] 9th July || 09 July 2012 Star Plus Written Episode Update on Star Plus Diya Aur Baati Hum is the story of Sandhya's struggles, who dreams of becoming an IPS officer. They dreams to break the boundaries of her confined existence of middle class values. The story is also about Sooraj, who is a self made man. Sooraj runs a famous sweet shop near his house.Sooraj & Sandhya get married under strained circumstances. Sandhya won't be able to finish her graduation. Soon they is part of the relatives they does not even know. This story is about Sandhya's struggle to fulfill her dream as well as a journey where they finds help from the most unlikely quarter - a husband who can make it feasible.

The Rathi relatives attends a puja at Dhaisa's house. Sandhya asks Sooraj to meet her in the storeroom. He tells him about World's Top Cook, an international cooking competition. He agrees to participate in the competition. Dhaisa sees Sandhya & Sooraj in the storeroom. He tells Santosh about it & ridicules them in front of the guests. Santosh rebukes Sandhya for demeaning her. Sandhya tells her about the cooking competition. 
Mohit mocks Sooraj's cooking skills for international cooking competition.To tell Sooraj about the cooking competition, Sandhya goes to Sooraj's shop. By mistake, Sooraj puts chilly in his eyes. Sandhya try to tend Soorajs eyes. Santosh rebukes her for daubing Sooraj's eye in public. Meenakshi helps Vikram in his saree shop. He falls off a chair & Vikram saves her. He scolds her for being careless in the work of pregnancy. While going to Dhaisa's house, Sandhya asks Meenakshi to join them for the puja. Meenakshi designs to make use of her infant, in order to regain her lost reputation.
